The trap pit is the simpler cousin of the Trap pit with sharp stakes. Instead of outright killing whatever stumbles into it, the trap pit simply immobilizes it, perhaps leading to broken bones or bruises. This keeps the animal in the trap for a longer period of time, giving the player more time between each visit.

Trap pits must be made over a hole, which you can make by [a]pplying a shovel to the ground. Trap pits need:

• 3 slender tree trunks
• 10 branches
• 10 spruce twigs

More spruce twigs can be substituted for the branches.
